Thanks for purchasing a Pen-F cold shoe mount! This comes in two flavors. One is for the original Olympus Pen-F and the other is for the FV and FT variants. The FV/FT version has a notch cut of the from for the additional knob (though it will work on the original Pen-F too).
The latest version of the shoe mounts now come with double sided tape already adhered to the bottom. Though not required, we recommend using the tape to secure the shoe mount. In our testing we have found the tape does not leave a residue. The camera-side of the tape has a plastic layer that will need to be peeled off expose the sticky bits. If you prefer not to use the tape, you can simply peel it off the shoe. We recommend using a strip of gaffer tape along the backside which can help keep it in place in stead.
Either way, to use, place the shoe onto the camera. The thin “bars” along the back fit into the grooves in the viewfinder window. Push down until it is fully seated. If using the double-sided tape, hold it there for 5-10 seconds using medium pressure. Then place your light meter or accessory through the shoe mount from the back.
Finally, push one of the plastic tabs into the back up against the shoe of your accessory. There are two tabs included. One is slightly smaller than the other and can be used for lightweight accessories. The larger one fits more snugly and can be useful for bigger accessories but can be a little more difficult to remove.
Note that the Pen-F cold shoe mount has only been field tested with lightweight lightmeters (such as the Reveni Labs and Lime 2). It should work with many accessories, but be mindful if using something heavy. It was not designed to hold a large Speedlite and may break if you are not careful.
